A fast, non-destructive, and accurate way to test case depth

Hardness EYE

Hardness EYE

How It Works

Pulstec’s Hardness EYE uses X-ray diffraction to calculate FWHM data to determine the case depth of carburized hardened steel or induction hardened steel. With Hardness EYE, there’s no need for pre-processing techniques, such as resin embedding and mirror surface polishing.

Hardness EYE is also easy to use, requiring no qualifications or licenses. All you have to do is place the sample to be tested on the one-axis automatic stage. Then, use the microscope to adjust the position of your specimen, and start measurements. Results will be displayed in minutes as OK or Not Good.

Features & Benefits

  • No Pre-Processing Needed: You can save time and money with the Hardness EYE because it doesn’t require resin embedding or mirror surface polishing like other case depth testers.
  • Exceptional Accuracy: The integrated microscope in the Hardness EYE allows for fine adjustments to the specimen to ensure accurate positioning.
  • Intuitive Display: Results are displayed as either “OK” or “Not Good” based on your programmed thresholds.
  • Safe Design: Hardness EYE features a shielding cover with interlock, preventing potential X-ray leakage.
  • Easy Calibration: Our proprietary software allows you to easily calibrate the hardness value and FWHM for every steel grade.
  • Non-Contact: X-ray diffraction is a non-destructive, non-contact, repeatable method for testing case depth without any risk of inclusions.
  • Easy to Use: You don’t need specialized skills, qualifications, or licenses to use Hardness EYE—anyone can operate it with minimal training.
